The Bryan Station Defender Classic 5K Run/Walk is presented each year by several Bryan Station High School booster organizations. Booster groups for the Band, Baseball, Boys and Girls Soccer, Chorus, Cross Country, Football, Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA), IT Academy, Junior & Senior Class, Orchestra, PTSA, Softball, Step Team, Student Council, Swimming and Volleyball make up the team that will produce the race in 2010.

Sponsorship
This event is made possible by the generous donations of our sponsors. Our 2010 race sponsorship campaign has already begun and concludes on March 1, 2010. The sponsorship levels for the 5K range from $300 down to $50. Race sponsorship is also included in the Community Partner sponsorship opportunities available through the BSHS PTSA Sponsorship Drive. Registration
Early registration entry fee is $15 ($10 if under 18). $20 for all ages after Thursday, March 25, 2010. Each participant will receive a commemorative race T-shirt and be eligible for prizes drawn after the race. T-shirt NOT guaranteed if registered after March 25th. Other merchandise such as Race caps ($15) and souvenir glasses ($5) must be ordered by March 25th as well (see race entry form).

Not a runner or a walker, not a problem! You don't have to participate in the race to support any or all of these BSHS groups with a We Are Bryan Station donation. Thanks in advance for your support!

Team Competitions
The four Team Challenge competitions listed below are part of the race in 2010. The team competitions are strictly for fun and "bragging rights". Select the links below for a full description of each competition.

Packet Pick Up
Race packets will be available Thursday & Friday, April 8 & 9th at BSHS from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. and on race day from 7:00 to 8:00 a.m. at BSHS in the Gym Corridor. Packets include your race number and race T-shirt. Pre-ordered race caps and souvenir glasses may be picked up as well.

Awards & Prizes
Awards (15oz beverage glasses) for overall and age group award winners. Door prize drawings using race numbers will be held at the awards ceremony after the race. The awards ceremony will be held in the school cafeteria and begin as soon as possible after the last participant finishes the race (hopefully around 9:30). Please enjoy the pancake breakfast while attending the awards ceremony. If available, souvenir award glasses may be purchased after the awards ceremony for $5 each.

Defender Health & Fitness Expo
Please join us at the Defender Health & Fitness Expo in the BSHS Gym on Thursday, April 8th from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. and Saturday, April 10th from 7:00 to 11:00 a.m. The Expo is free and open to the public.

  • Attractions: Please browse the list of Health & Fitness Vendors.
  • If your Health and/or Fitness related business would like to participate, please review and use the Vendor Information Sheet to register. There are no mandatory space rental fees.

Pancake Breakfast
The BSHS Band Boosters will host a pancake breakfast fund raiser in the school cafeteria after the race. The menu includes pancakes, sausage, fruit, coffee, juice and milk. The breakfast is open to the public and the cost is $5.00 per person. Race participants may purchase tickets to the breakfast ($4.00 on or before March 25th, $5.00 after) on the race entry form.

Pasta Dinner
A pasta dinner will be held in the school cafeteria on Thursday, April 8th (Defender Family Night), from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. The menu includes pasta, salad, and breadsticks from Fazoli's, and a drink (soda or water). The dinner is open to the public and the cost is $7.50 per person. Bake sale items from various booster groups will be available for an additional charge. Race participants may purchase tickets to the dinner ($6.50 on or before March 25th, $7.50 after) on the race entry form. Please plan to join us at the Pasta Dinner then pick up your race packet and visit the Health & Fitness Expo!

Fund Raising Instructions
The Defender Classic 5K Run/Walk is open to any and all BSHS groups to use as a fund raiser. Please review the Fund Raising Information document to learn how to use the 5K as a fund raiser for your group.

Future Race Dates
Our preferred race date is always one week before the Kentucky Derby Festival Marathon/Mini-Marathon race weekend since our race is a good final "tune-up" for runners participating in these large races in Louisville. The KDF races are always one week before the Kentucky Derby which is always the first Saturday in May. So in any given year, the Defender Classic 5K Run/Walk will always (hopefully) be two weeks before the Kentucky Derby. Please plan to join us in the future on these dates:
